The Ultrapulse CO
2 (Carbon Dioxide) Laser has been used at The Aesthetic Surgery Center since
August of 1995 and has become an integral part of the contemporary approach to restoring the aging face.
Facelifts, forehead lifts and blepharoplasties have little or no effect on fine to medium facial wrinkles. These
procedures can not pull skin tight enough to remove fine to medium facial wrinkles, especially wrinkles around the eyes and
mouth. Crepey eyelid skin, vertical lip and frown lines can be smoothed effectively with the use
of the Carbon Dioxide laser.

A laser wash to the entire face produces a tightening effect of the entire
facial area that many times mimics the results often seen as a "non surgical facelift." Skin
damage that has been promoted by smoking, alcohol, excessive exposure to sunlight responds exceedingly well to laser resurfacing.
The carbon dioxide laser is effective in washing away brown facial age spots that accumulated over time with
excessive sun exposure; yet does not damage the underlying normal facial pigmentation.
The procedure requires two or three passes with the laser. The first pass vaporizes the dry, wrinkled and sun damaged skin and
literally washes it away. The second and third pass stimulates new collagen formation and basically "shrink wraps" the collagen
bonds, tightening the overall facial skin. After the procedure, a specifically designed clear dressing that eliminates any peeling
or crusting of the skin and reduces discomfort to a minimum. This new collagen formation enhances the structural integrity of the
skin and lifts the face. The skin tightening effect produced by the carbon dioxide laser is immediate and throughout the healing
phase demonstrates progressive improvement for approximately 6 months.
