Battling the effects of age can be exhausting, but a new product being offered here in Southwest Florida is a powerful weapon in that fight that some swear by.

"Artefill is the newest and only permanent injectable wrinkle filler that's on the market." said Dr. Anurag Agarwal, of The Aesthetic Surgery Center in Naples. "It was FDA approved in October of 2006. What's nice about this product is it has the potential to last several years which is very different from other types of materials."

Like other injectables, including Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse, Artefill can fill in creases, primarily around the mouth. Unlike the other fillers that are eventually absorbed into the body, Artefill promotes your own lasting collagen growth.

It is pricey---$3,000 to $4,000.

"Other products may have a required injection of every 4-6 months." explains Dr. Agarwal. "{Artefill} we're talking about two sessions that carry you for several years, so there's a savings that way as well as in terms of the number of times you have to have the procedure done."

It takes several months for the full effects of Artefill to be seen, and as with any cosmetic procedure there are some risks. You should talk to your doctor about the best options for you.
