Dr. Richard Maloney, a facial plastic surgeon, is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery. This board deals exclusively with facial and neck, cosmetic and
reconstructive surgery. Dr. Maloney is also certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology -
Head and Neck. This board recognizes medical and surgical experience of the head and neck
region exclusively. Although certification in many organizations assures you of a certain
experience level, it does not reflect the surgeons capabilities in all areas of plastic
surgery. Dr. Maloney specializes only in cosmetic and plastic surgery of the face
and neck.
Dr. Richard Maloney has over 30 years experience in private practice in Erie, PA and in Naples, Florida.
Dr. Maloney has performed both microsurgery and endoscopic surgery since 1985, and endoplastic surgery
since it was introduced in 1993. A researcher as well as a physician, Dr. Maloney has served as chief
investigator for numerous laser application systems for Argon, Nd:YAG, and Carbon Dioxide
lasers that are used in head and neck surgery.
In December 1979, he performed the first laser surgery in Western Pennsylvania. His clinical
research in lasers has produced FDA-approved products that now are used routinely by surgeons
throughout the world. This medical laser research and development background is the foundation
for the laser procedures performed at The Aesthetic Surgery Center.
