Chin Cheek Before and After Photos
Facial implants are used by our surgeons to accomplish permanent volumization of the face. Oftentimes, there is genetic deficiency of chin projection, or flat, narrow cheeks. There are a variety of options to augment the chin and cheeks, including temporary injectable fillers, fat transfer, and facial implants. Our plastic surgeons use silastic implants for chin and cheek augmentation.
Silastic implants have been used for many decades and have a long safety track record. They are placed directly on the bone, using concealed small incisions. For the chin, the implant can be placed from a small incision under the skin or sometimes, from an incision inside the lower lip. Cheek implants are placed from incisions in the gum under the upper lip. Both procedures have a few weeks of initial noticeable swelling, but after about two weeks, the swelling is mild and gradually resolves over a few months. Because of the placement of these smooth implants on the bone, they are less susceptible to any lumpiness or bumpiness which can occur with more superficially placed injectable fillers.
Patients are generally thrilled with the smooth contour of permanent chin and cheek implants. The implants do not move or shift. Our plastic surgeons in Naples, Florida will evaluate your face, listen to your goals, give their aesthetic opinion, and then determine the shape of the implant to use and the size. In our Chin Cheek Implant photo gallery, you will see examples of patients who have either had chin or cheek implants. Some of these individuals are younger and seek to improve genetic conditions. Others are older and seek to improve genetic conditions or age related hollowing. We encourage you to discuss your options with one of our seasoned plastic surgeons.
