There are a number of minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures that can dramatically improve one’s appearance. While surgical options offer impressive, lasting results, not every patient is ready for surgery. Many of the patients visiting the Aesthetic Surgery Center are looking to improve their facial aesthetics. Here, we explore the top five non-surgical procedures that patients request at our Center:
BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections
Patients seeking a refreshed appearance may request Botox injections to minimize the look of lines and wrinkles on the skin of the face. Often, Botox patients are in their thirties to fifties, and may not yet be ready for a full facelift. Common injection sites are lines of the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, and frown lines. Botox may not be effective on wrinkles caused by sun exposure or the natural effects of gravity, as a different underlying mechanism creates these skin imperfections.
The injections can create and maintain a youthful look by preventing muscle contractions that lead to linear depressions in the skin, by effectively blocking nerve activity. The effects of the injections are quick to appear, typically just three to seven days following the injection session. The results are smoother looking skin, with fewer lines detracting from the patient’s natural beauty. Botox injections are usually repeated when the effects wear off, but patient upkeep becomes less frequent with regular sessions, as suggested by the doctor. In most patients, the effects will last between three and four months.
Injectable Cosmetic Fillers
Some patients confuse the effects of Botox injections with that of dermal injections. As explained above, Botox blocks nerve impulses from relaying movement information to the muscles, offering a safe and temporary paralysis. Injectable fillers are explained in their name. The materials are injected under the skin and fill in depressions that create skin texture issues. They may be used to plump lines and wrinkles to meet the height of surrounding skin, minimize the look of acne and other facial scars, or add volume to features such as the lips.
Dermal injections may be created from synthetic materials in a laboratory setting, but more commonly are composed of regular components found in the human body, such as hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid gel attracts water content from areas of the face where injected, and will swell, offering local volume. These fillers include Perlane, Restylane, and JUVÉDERM® and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC. The Aesthetic Surgery Center offers additional fillers such as: Radiesse, a microsphere gel where the substances are derived from calcium and water; and BellaFill®, polymethylmethacrylate combined with bovine collagen gel. Though some patients may be sensitive to certain fillers, the variety of fillers provides patients with numerous safe options to help accomplish their goals.
AcuPulse™ Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing
We admire the skin of young people because it is uniform in color, smooth, and free of imperfections. This skin is seen as the canvas of the face, with the features in the forefront. Even with facial harmony of all the existing parts, skin issues can cause people to feel unattractive. While other areas of the body may be covered in various settings, the face is always visible. People focus on our eyes and lips when we speak.
Patients of the Aesthetic Surgery Center may elect to undergo laser resurfacing of the skin for a number of issues, like deep wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage. Through advanced technology and equipment, the doctor or trained technicians are able to target problem areas of the skin to promote changes in the underlying structure of the epidermis.
The carbon dioxide gas laser emits light to remove damaged layers of skin, leaving the healthy, surrounding tissues intact. Thanks to the new fractional CO2 technology, the treatment session provides maximal results with minimal downtime. Over time, skin will continue to improve as the AcuPulse Fractional CO2 laser works to increase the production of collagen, which is essential to the framework of skin tissue.
ThermiTight™ Skin Tightening
Loose skin and fatty deposits can be found in the face and body, and have historically been threated through skin removal and liposuction procedures. ThermiTightÔ is an innovative way to treat a number of areas with these aesthetic issues, including the jawline and neck, upper arms, abdominal wall, thighs, and knees. A small probe accesses the underlying tissues through a small skin incision to deliver heat to areas with skin laxity and some unwanted fat. The probe is temperature controlled and effectively remodels the existing collagen. Due to regular cell turnover and recovery, patients will notice optimal results two months to twelve months following the procedure.
A benefit to ThermiTight skin tightening is that it works with the natural components of the body to create change. Tissue is not removed, and muscles and nerves are left safely in place. Patients who have mild skin laxity are the best candidates for this procedure.
UltraShape® Fat Reduction
The Aesthetic Surgery Center is the only provider of UltraShape® in Naples, Florida. Through ultrasound technology, the device targets stubborn fat and efficiently destroys fat cells by mechanically causing them to burst. A handheld ultrasound device combined with a topical gel ensures smooth delivery of the ultrasound waves, leading to painless, permanent results. A licensed aesthetician performs each treatment, which will be scheduled two weeks apart. After just three sessions, a person can experience a two-inch decrease in his or her waistline.
