Fat Transfer Before and After Photos
Fat injections, fat transfer, and fat transplant to the face all refer to taking fat from another part of the body, such as the abdomen, inner or outer thighs, flanks, or inner knees, and injecting it into the face. It is a powerful technique to volumize the face, especially since deflation from volume loss is one of the primary aging factors of the face. This is often apparent as temporal hollowing, loss of volume under the eyes, gaunt cheeks, folds around the mouth, chin deficiency and loss of jawline contour.
Fat transfer can be performed as a procedure by itself, or performed with other procedures such as eyelid surgery, facelift surgery, or Laserwash resurfacing. It is one of the more artistic procedures to perform, and our plastic surgeons have extensive experience in sculpting the face with fat transfer. There are many nuances to the procedure that help to achieve a consistent, excellent result. These include the fat removal technique from the body, fat processing techniques, amount of fat injected and placement of the fat, and the instruments and technique used to inject the fat.
Initially, the fat injection must be overdone because a significant portion of the injected fat resorbs in the first one month. For that reason, you will have more swelling in the first 2-3 weeks. However, soon after that, the lasting results of the surviving fat will become apparent. In our fat transfer photo gallery, please review examples of patients who have had this procedure performed. Each photo set will have a description of where the fat was placed and what additional procedures may have been performed.
