The UpLift™️ Facelift
This low downtime facelift is ideal for those individuals with sagging tissues along the jawline and upper neck. The UpLift™ facelift differs from most of the other ‘mini-lifts’ because it is not simply a skin suspension procedure or a simple SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) suturing procedure. Looking for a facelift with low downtime? At the Aesthetic Surgery Center in Naples, FL, UpLift™ facelift surgery is a primary focus.
The UpLift Facelift involves complex neck reconstruction with a muscle reattachment procedure, fat excision if needed, deep neck contouring, as well as tightening of the support system of the face (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system or SMAS) while working in the deep plane. Incisions are hidden inside the ear, around the earlobe, and sometimes under the chin. The natural vertical direction of the lift of her underlying muscle layers is what gives the natural result of the UpLift™, avoiding any windswept look.
The beauty of this procedure is that it offers dramatic results, with about a two-week initial recovery. The UpLift™ is most commonly performed with intravenous anesthesia and takes about 3-3.5 hours to perform.

Assessing Candidacy: Is UpLift Right for You?
Determining if one is an ideal candidate for the UpLift Facelift involves a personal consultation with a facial plastic surgeon. Candidates are typically individuals experiencing droopy skin, crepey skin, or a sunken appearance due to age or environmental factors. During the consultation, the surgeon reviews the patient’s medical history, current medications, and overall health to ensure suitability for the procedure.
Individuals who benefit most from this cosmetic surgery are those seeking improvement in their facial structure, particularly around the jawline and neck, where signs of aging like a double chin or loose skin are prevalent. The process also involves understanding the candidate’s expectations and desired outcomes. An ideal candidate for a facelift should have a well-defined jawline, sufficient skin elasticity, and realistic expectations about the results.
Unique Considerations for Facelift Procedures
Facelift surgery requires an approach that accommodates different facial structures and features. The uplift facelift focuses on maintaining characteristic features while subtly reversing signs of aging. Key considerations include:
- Incision Placement: Discreet incisions are crucial. Skilled surgeons make incisions in natural creases in front of and behind the ear to ensure minimal scarring. Future hair growth in areas with dense hair must also be considered.
- Muscle and Fat Management: There are variations in facial muscle and fat distribution among individuals. Surgeons use techniques like deep muscle suspension and fat grafting to enhance the facial contour while preserving the natural muscle structure.
- Skin Characteristics: The thickness and fat layer composition of the skin can vary, necessitating specific techniques for removing fat and tightening skin to achieve the best results.

How to Prepare for an UpLift Facelift
Preparation for an UpLift facelift involves several crucial steps to ensure a successful outcome and a smooth recovery. First, a comprehensive consultation with the plastic surgeon is essential. During this meeting, patients should discuss their expectations, any current medications, and their medical history. The surgeon may advise adjustments to daily medications or avoiding certain supplements that could affect blood flow and blood pressure.
Lifestyle adjustments, such as quitting smoking and avoiding alcohol, are often recommended to improve the surgery process and recovery. Patients should also arrange for assistance post-surgery, as the initial recovery period requires rest and limited activity.
The UpLift™️ Facelift Procedure
The actual UpLift facelift procedure is carefully executed to address specific facial features. The surgery typically involves shorter incisions made in discreet locations to minimize visible scarring. Surgeons work meticulously to tighten loose skin, address skin laxity, and enhance the overall facial structure, focusing on creating a contoured jawline and addressing issues like a double chin.
Advanced surgical techniques, such as deep muscle suspension and the use of cutting-edge technologies, are employed to achieve natural-looking results. Additional techniques may include eyelid surgery or brow lift, depending on the patient’s needs. The goal is always to maintain the integrity of the patient’s characteristic features while reversing signs of aging.
Post-surgery, patients can expect some swelling and bruising, which will subside over time. The surgeon will provide detailed aftercare instructions, including guidelines on avoiding certain physical activities and managing pain with medication, to ensure a smooth and effective recovery.
Understanding the Risks: What Patients Should Know
As with any surgical procedure, there are inherent risks involved in a facelift. Patients should be aware of potential complications such as infection, bleeding, and adverse reactions to anesthesia. It is crucial for patients to discuss these risks with their surgeon during the pre-operative consultation.
Surgeons with decades of experience in cosmetic plastic surgery are adept at minimizing risks. They use aesthetic techniques that preserve blood supply and ensure proper healing. However, each patient’s response to surgery can vary, making it essential to understand and follow recovery instructions closely.
UpLift Facelift Recovery: Expectations for Patients
Post-surgery, patients undergoing an UpLift Facelift can expect a structured recovery process. Initially, there may be swelling, discomfort, and the need for pain relief, which can be managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medications. It’s crucial to follow the surgeon’s recovery instructions meticulously for optimal healing.
The recovery period varies, but most patients can resume normal activities within a couple of weeks. Surgeons often provide detailed recovery instructions, including care for incisions, activity restrictions, and tips for reducing swelling. During this period, the facial tissues gradually heal, revealing the more youthful, contoured facial appearance that UpLift offers.
Recovery also involves follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns. Patients should expect gradual improvements over several months as the facial skin and tissues settle into their new, rejuvenated state.

The UpLift Facelift FAQs
An individual consultation with one of our Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Agarwal, Dr. Maloney, or Dr. Holmes is the best way to determine which procedure is best suited to meet your goals. During this consultation, the surgeon will examine you, and demonstrate proposed changes using a 3 way mirror in our office.
There is no specific age to perform this procedure. There should be enough jawline and neck laxity to make it worth performing. Generally, the procedure can be performed on anyone ages 40 and up. Having the procedure performed earlier can give the procedure more longevity, as skin and deeper layers are thicker and more robust earlier in life. Plus you will have more years to enjoy the aesthetic benefits. During the procedure, the underlying deep tissue layer is strengthened, specifically along the jawline and upper neck. Anyone with looseness in this area is a candidate for the UpLift™️️.
Generally speaking, it takes one to two weeks for most of the swelling and any bruising to resolve. This can vary from individual to individual. Make-up can be applied within one week after The UpLift™.
Ultra-thin drains are usually used for two to three days post-operatively in order to reduce bruising and swelling. These are removed easily in the office.
You will need someone to help you for two days post-operatively. If a supportive friend or family member is not available, then home nursing can be arranged through our office.
This procedure is done with deep intravenous sedation at our state-of-the-art AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities) certified office surgical center.
