ThermiSmooth™ is a procedure performed by our licensed aestheticians at the Aesthetic Surgery Center, utilizing the ThermiRF™ Radiofrequency skin tightening technology. During a series of 4 weekly sessions, a temperature regulated probe is applied externally to the skin in order to heat the skin to the desired level (42-44°C). Heating of the skin to this temperature induces skin tightening by collagen contraction and remodeling, as well as long term stimulation of collagen production. Results are seen 2 to 12 months after the series of 4 treatments. The most commonly treated areas are the upper and lower eyelids to tighten the skin and improve fine lines, the mouth area to improve lip lines, and crepy skin along the neck. The Aesthetic Surgery Center is proud to be the first to offer this exciting new technology in the Naples, Fort Myers, and Marco Island area.
How ThermiSmooth™ works – Precision in skin heating
This procedure is performed in the office by our aestheticians. No anesthetic is required. The ThermiSmooth™ probe is applied to the target skin externally, which is then heated to the desired level (42-44°C). Monitoring of external skin temperature is performed with real time feedback from an infrared camera system, which is continually monitored by our aestheticians to ensure even distribution of heat. Most procedures take about 30-45 minutes. ThermiSmooth™ treatments can be combined with facials or microdermabrasion treatments if desired. There is mild redness and swelling for a few hours and make-up can be applied right away. This procedure can be performed on any skin type.
Can ThermiSmooth™ be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as injectables?
ThermiSmooth™ is a no downtime procedure that is affordable and can improve fine lines, wrinkles, and crepy skin laxity of the eyelids, upper and lower lips, and front of the neck. It is not meant to be a substitute for laser resurfacing or surgical treatment. An individual consultation is best to see if you are a good candidate for this treatment. Combining ThermiSmooth™ with other techniques such as Botox Cosmetic or injectable fillers can further improve results. ThermiSmooth™ can also be performed if you have had prior laser resurfacing but still have some residual lines. For those candidates with darker skin types who are not ideal laser resurfacing candidates, ThermiSmooth™ finally offers something to improve fine lines and wrinkles with risk of pigmentary alteration.
Does ThermiSmooth™ hurt?
There is mild discomfort during the heating of the treatment areas. No anesthesia is required and there is no post-procedure pain.
How long do the results last and do you have to repeat the procedure?
The goal of ThermiSmooth™ is to tighten the fine lines and skin laxity and turn back the clock. However, the result is not frozen in time. The aging process will gradually progress. For maintenance, we recommend one treatment session every six months after the initial 4 weekly sessions.
How much downtime is there?
There is no downtime with ThermiSmooth™ and full activities can be resumed the same day.
How much does the treatment cost?
The cost of this treatment varies depending on the areas to be treated. Please call our office at 239-594-9100 to schedule your consultation.
Who performs the ThermiSmooth™ procedures at our practice?
All ThermiSmooth™ procedures are performed by one of our licensed aestheticians, under physician supervision. Our aestheticians will personally use their skills and expertise in ensuring the best outcome possible for you.
How do I know if ThermiSmooth™ is the right procedure for me?
ThermiSmooth™ is a procedure that meets a certain need and is best suited for those individuals with fine lines and wrinkles and/or crepy skin. It will not offer a surgical type of result, but has no downtime and is an office based procedure performed without any anesthetic. For those patients who are not candidates for surgery or laser resurfacing (either because of skin type, cost, recovery time, etc…), ThermiSmooth™ offers a viable option. An individual consultation is the best way to determine if ThermiSmooth™ is right for you.
