Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse® is made from the same minerals found in our bones (calcium hydroxyapatite), so it carries almost no risk of allergic reaction – just one of its advantages over alternative treatments. Radiesse can be used on many areas of the body, but the most effective areas treated are the nasolabial folds (laugh lines), peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures (downturned corners of the mouth), and hands.
About Radiesse
Treatments typically take 30 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last about nine months to one year, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.
If you are interested in Radiesse® and how it may work for you, please give our Naples office a call at (239) 594-9100, or e-mail us to set up an appointment at The Aesthetic Surgery Center to discuss this exciting advancement in wrinkle treatment.

Radiesse FAQs
The success of your treatment relies on choosing the right filler to do the job, whether it’s Radiesse or another product. Every filler is unique in composition, consistency, and ability, though each is able to treat wrinkles, folds, and facial depressions, as well as perform augmentations. Different fillers also offer varying ranges of depth to manage surface lines or deep folds. The right filler agent for you will be chosen by a Plastic Surgeon at the Aesthetic Surgery Center. During a consultation, your areas of concern will be assessed to help determine which treatment is best out of a range of choices, including Perlane, Restylane, Juvederm, and more. Often, your surgeon will use a customized combination of fillers in order to achieve the optimal results in the different portions of your face.
Your Radiesse results will not be permanent but may last for a longer amount of time when placed in the areas where this product works best. When applied to the areas it is meant to treat, Radiesse can last up to one year. As with any injectable filler, using Radiesse in areas for which it is not designed will result in short-lived, unsatisfactory results. Radiesse is an ideal treatment for laugh lines, or nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, cheek augmentation, depressed scars, and downturned corners of the mouth or oral commissures. Consult with your doctor about the areas you would like treated to learn whether Radiesse is the right treatment option.
Radiesse is a biocompatible gel that is composed of calcium hydroxyapatite, the same minerals that are found in human bones. Given its natural source, Radiesse is safe to use and carries almost no risk of allergic reaction in its patients.
All injectable treatments are likely to involve some slight pain at the site of the injection. This initial pain is often described as feeling like a bug bite. Swelling and bruising are common.
Radiesse itself does not carry any specific side effects, but injectable fillers, in general, have been known to cause some slight bruising, swelling, and pain at the treatment site. These symptoms should last only a day or two before subsiding on their own. With any filler, there is a remote chance of a delayed reaction to the filler, such as granuloma formation. Your surgeon will likely use ice, a topical anesthetic cream, or a lidocaine nerve block to perform your treatment and reduce your chances of pain, bruising, and swelling.
Radiesse is one injectable filler that can be used to treat a variety of specific concerns, including wrinkles and folds at various depths, cheek augmentation, and jawline augmentation.
Some results of your Radiesse injections will be visible immediately, though swelling of the area may obscure them. After a few days, you will notice the full results of your Radiesse treatments emerging.
Age is not often a determining factor in deciding whether a person is a good candidate for Radiesse treatments or not. Your eligibility depends on the presence of lines, folds, and depressions, which can often be hereditary and present much earlier than normal as a result. Facial fillers like Radiesse can help patients even in their 30s to reverse these effects, no matter what has caused them.
All Radiesse treatments are administered by plastic surgeons at the Aesthetic Surgery Center. Their high level of skill and aesthetic training provides each patient with the three-dimensional volumetric enhancement they desire.
Radiesse treatments can certainly be administered following your consultation. When you call the Aesthetic Surgery Center for an appointment, mention your intentions to receive your first treatments at the same time and your consultation will be scheduled accordingly.
