Microdermabrasion is a treatment that has been offered for several years at our practice. It is an effective and simple form of mechanical exfoliation, in which aluminum oxide crystals are used to remove the outer layer of dead or damaged skin cells, revealing more youthful skin. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment designed to improve the overall texture, tone and clarity of the skin while restoring the skin’s elasticity. The repeated process of exfoliation stimulates an increased level of collagen and elastin, which improves your skin’s appearance. All skin types benefit from microdermabrasion, which can improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, chicken pox scars, brown spots, large pores and other skin imperfections.
While the crystal form of microdermabrasion offered at our practice remains the gold standard, the Megapeel EX Gold series device enables our aestheticians to perform crystal-free microdermabrasion with a diamond hand piece. This is well suited for sensitive, fragile skin because the exfoliation is less aggressive and more gentle. Our aestheticians will help guide you as to which microdermabrasion technique is most appropriate for your skin type.
The Trifecta Facial
The Trifecta Facial was designed by our physicians and aestheticians as a triple age defense treatment (Dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, vitamin C firming masque).
- First, dermaplaning is done to remove unwanted hair and peach fuzz.
- Second, microdermabrasion is performed to exfoliate dead skin cells and create new cell turnover, coupled with a 20% glycolic peel to lower the pH of the skin and tighten pores.
- The treatment is finished with a vitamin C firming masque to combat effects of sun damage and reveal glowing, more youthful skin.
ThermiSmooth™ is a procedure performed by our licensed aestheticians at the Aesthetic Surgery Center, utilizing the ThermiRF™ Radiofrequency skin tightening technology. During a series of 4 weekly sessions, a temperature regulated probe is applied externally to the skin in order to heat the skin to the desired level (42-44°C). Heating of the skin to this temperature induces skin tightening by collagen contraction and remodeling, as well as long term stimulation of collagen production. Results are seen 2 to 12 months after the series of 4 treatments. The most commonly treated areas are the upper and lower eyelids to tighten the skin and improve fine lines, the mouth area to improve lip lines, and crepy skin along the neck. The Aesthetic Surgery Center is proud to be the first to offer this exciting new technology in the Naples, Fort Myers, and Marco Island area.

Micro Peels (Dermaplaning and Gylcolic Acid)
These peels consist of Alpha Hydroxy Acids, a chemical exfoliant, commonly referred to as the Lunch Hour Peel. Although more therapeutic than salon peels, these are mild but effective and performed under physician supervision. Monthly treatments are recommended.
A light Jessner peel followed by 0.3% Retinoic Acid. This is used for superficial peeling and refreshing the skin.
Light Trichloroacetic Acid Peel (TCA)
A stronger chemical peel performed by our aestheticians under physician guidance, which can address superficial pigmentation, fine surface lines, and rejuvenate the skin.
The Rejuvenize Peel is an advanced formulation of peeling agents, with a built-in anti-irritant and penetration enhancer that provides controlled exfoliation of the uppermost damaged layers of the skin to reveal fresher and healthier skin. Provides predictable results with minimal down time.
The Vi Peel™ contains a synergistic blend of salicyclic acid, phenol, 15% TCA (trichloroacetic acid), 0.03% retinoic acid, Vitamin C and minerals. It is suitable for all skin types and it improves the tone, texture, and clarity of your skin. The Vi Peel™ is beneficial for acne, stimulating the production of collagen, and softening superficial lines and wrinkles. There is little downtime and there are significant results.

What is Permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which deploys permanent pigmentation into the dermal layer of the skin (2nd layer). It produces designs that resemble makeup, such as eyeliner, fuller lips/lip liner, and your desired shape and fullness for eyebrows. With maintenance and proper home care, you can have natural looking makeup at all times.
Individuals who benefit from permanent makeup:
- Those who don’t have time to complete their look secondary to a busy lifestyle.
- Limited vision or mobility.
- Athletic lifestyle (no smearing, smudging, or running).
- Allergies to traditional cosmetics.
- Loss of hair from alopecia, chemotherapy, excessive tweezing or waxing, etc…
Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s):
One time sterile disposable needles are used for each and every procedure. Strict sanitation and sterilization procedures are enforced and practiced with every procedure. This will eliminate cross contamination, thereby markedly reducing chance of infection. Please discuss all allergies and medical issues with your technician before starting.
Is it painful?
Topical anesthetics are used which will significantly block the pain. Most clients report little or no pain. This process does takes about 45mins to become numb. It may take individuals more or less time to numb.
How long does it take?
Depending on the application, the procedure takes approximately one to two hours (may be longer if more applications are performed). A follow-up session is included within four to six weeks, to see if a touch-up may be needed. If so, the second session generally takes about one hour, depending on the areas treated.
Typically 7-10 days, however each client is different. Some swelling and redness is normal the day after the procedure. Cold compresses are recommended 20 minutes on and 20 minutes the day of the procedure and the next day as well. This will help to reduce swelling. Ointment is applied to the treated areas as well. Written after-care instructions will be provided.
Pigments that are used are not the same as ink for a tattoo. The highest quality pigments are used. However, gradual fading is expected from all permanent makeup procedures over time. With proper aftercare and maintenance, the results from permanent makeup application can last for several years depending on the client’s skin type.
What is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through this process, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Micro-needling is a safe, chemical-free method that triggers new collagen with advanced serums used with the process.
How many sessions will it take to see a difference?
- The number of needling sessions depends on the individual skin condition.
- Three or four treatments may be recommended for mild to moderate acne scarring, whereas deeper scars and stretch marks may require upward of five treatments.
- An interval of 3 to 4 weeks between treatments is typically recommended.
- After receiving desired results, maintenance is recommended once a year.
Why get professional micro-needling? (Machine based micro-needling by a licensed aesthetician vs. self applied derma roller at home)
- The fear of going too deep at home could cause more damage than good. Alternatively, treatment that is not deep enough will not achieve any results.
- Using the derma roller too often at home could prevent the skin cells from regenerating.
- If performed at home in an unsanitary area, this could result in infection and causing more damage and possible scarring.
- Rollers create a V type hole (see image) where the needle goes in and comes out at an angle. This can lead to tearing and broader openings than necessary. The machine pens create a straight linear opening in the skin. There is less tearing with the machine and the goal of collagen stimulation is achieved without excess trauma to the skin.
