Lip Enhancement Before and After Photos
The most common reasons for patients to present for lip enhancement are:
- Dissatisfaction with the vertical height of the upper and lower red lips.
- Insufficient projection of the lips.
- Inadequate definition of the shape of the lips (for example, at the Cupid’s bow).
- Insubstantial lip pout.

Youthful lips are considered to be sensual, supple, and full. Sometimes, lips can have inadequate volume due to genetics. Other times, aging can result in a loss of volume of the lips and the upper lip can lengthen and roll inwards.
At the Aesthetic Surgery Center, our plastic surgeons have a keen eye for aesthetically pleasing lips and will listen to your concerns in formulating a treatment plan. Non-surgical lip augmentation with fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane are commonly the first step. These products are typically injected every 4-8 months in the office, awake, with just a topical numbing cream applied in advance.
If a patient desires more long term lip enhancement, we generally use Perma® Facial Implants in the lips. These are permanent, soft silicone implants that we have been using since 2007. They are FDA approved. They are inserted through small incisions at the corners of the mouth in the office with local anesthesia. Sometimes, muscle grafts can also be used for permanent lip augmentation. Fat injections in the lips can be somewhat unpredictable and don’t seem to last a long period of time, so they are generally not performed by our surgeons.
