LaserWash
LaserWash is a method used by our plastic surgeons to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin and heat the remaining skin to induce collagen remodeling. The specific wavelength of the laser allows them to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smooth the skin, and remove blemishes.
Our plastic surgeons carefully researched the various devices available before choosing the equipment they use in the office. The AcuPulse™ fractional CO2 laser, Sciton Profile Erbium-YAG, and AcuPulse™ fully ablative CO2 laser enable them to offer the full spectrum of laser resurfacing options to patients in the Naples area.
Types of Lasers Available
The AcuPulse™ fractional and fully ablative CO2 are both carbon dioxide lasers that can remove deep layers of damaged skin and stimulate regeneration of the healthy skin underneath. The Sciton Profile Erbium-YAG laser, meanwhile, works on the superficial layers of skin. This gentler treatment refines and smooths the skin and can be performed at various depths. For example, the Arctic peel using the Erbium-YAG laser is a weekend peel, while the Arctic laser wash using the Erbium-YAG laser falls between the Arctic peel and the fractional CO2 laser.
During a private consultation, one of our physicians will evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and formulate a treatment plan to achieve your objectives using one of our state-of-the-art laser machines. We offer the following treatments:
AcuPulse™ Fractional CO2 Laser
The AcuPulse CO2 laser is a focused resurfacing treatment used to treat small areas of the skin. AcuPulse’s™ SuperPulse™ technology enables the deepest penetration with the lowest energy possible. This low energy requirement combined with leaving interspersed areas of intact skin reduces patient discomfort, downtime, and the risk of side effects. This exciting new technology means that you will achieve both superficial and deep wrinkle improvement, blending of acne scars, and treatment of sun damage with minimal downtime or discomfort.
The AcupulseTM Fractional CO2 laser is used to:
- Reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes
- Tighten the skin
- Blend acne scars
- Treat sun damage
AcuPulse™ Fully Ablative CO2 Laser
The AcuPulseTM fully ablative CO2 laser is used to treat signs of facial aging. Unlike facelifts, forehead lifts, and blepharoplasties, the fully ablative CO2 laser can treat medium to deep facial wrinkles, especially those that gather around the eyes and the mouth. A fully ablative CO2 Laser Wash treatment for the entire face produces an overall facial tightening effect and improvement of overall complexion.
The AcupulseTM Fully Ablative CO2 laser is used to:
- Tighten the skin of the face
- Lessen the appearance of age spots from sun exposure
- Repair skin damage from smoking, alcohol, and sun exposure
- Smooth wrinkled, crepe-like skin
- Eliminate excess or spotty skin pigments
- Remove precancerous skin lesions
- Treat deep lip wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead lines, fine wrinkles anywhere on the face, acne scars, and facial surgical scars

Sciton Profile Erbium-YAG
The Sciton Profile™ Erbium-YAG laser allows the physician to gently remove thin layers of skin for a more refined laser skin treatment. This ultra-thin laser wash can be used for light skin refinement or a multi-step treatment for deeper wrinkles with minimal pain and rapid healing. This laser is precise, controlled, and so predictable that any risks of scarring are virtually eliminated.
Many younger individuals find the superficial penetration of the Erbium YAG laser to be especially valuable as it can help prevent the first signs of aging. For patients with deep acne scarring, combining the AcuPulse Fractional CO2 with the Sciton Profile™ Erbium-YAG laser yields enhanced results.
The Sciton Profile Erbium-YAG laser is used to:
- Treat the first signs of lip lines, sun spots, or crow’s feet
- Smooth damaged or scarred skin from acne
The Sciton Profile Erbium-YAG laser is also the cornerstone of two Aesthetic Surgery Center laser peel treatments: the Arctic Peel and Arctic Laser Wash.
Arctic Peel™
Also known as the “weekend” skin peel, is ideal for patients with sun-damaged skin and early skin aging. The treatment is performed in the office and requires minimal downtime.
Chilled air is used to cool the skin to provide a deeper resurfacing than microdermabrasion and create noticeably smoother skin. Generally, patients notice skin peeling 2-3 days after the treatment. While results are seen after one treatment, they continue to improve with successive treatments.
Arctic Laser Wash
Is an epidermal peel that successfully treats brown spots, age spots, acne scars, facial scars, fine wrinkles, and keratosis. Makeup will go on smoother and you will look and feel younger.
Topical anesthetic cream and local anesthetic nerve blocks are used in addition to the cool air chiller, and healing can range from 4-7 days, depending on the depth of the ablation that is chosen. If you are looking for a low downtime procedure that offers serious results, call the Aesthetic Surgery Center to schedule your appointment.

Laser Skin Treatments FAQs
The health of your skin is influenced by many different factors such as sun exposure, genetics, the expressiveness of your face, and how much you smoke or drink.
You may be a candidate for laser skin treatments if you have deep wrinkles, sun damage, loose skin, and the appropriate skin type. Age doesn’t matter. Only an experienced plastic surgeon can evaluate your candidacy.
Many of these treatments are gentle enough to be repeated if signs of skin deterioration return after your first treatment.
Yes! CO2 lasers work on the skin by removing deep layers of damaged skin and stimulating the regeneration of healthy skin underneath. Usually, CO2 lasers require a local anesthetic for spot treating areas or intravenous sedation for treating the full face.
Recovery time will depend on the treatment received, the individual’s reaction to the treatment, and the severity of the issues being addressed. However, treatments like the Arctic Laser Wash, which only uses local anesthetic, will generally have a faster recovery than a fully ablative CO2 laser treatment that penetrates deep into the layers of the skin.
CO2 Treatments:
If the treatment is performed in a localized area, such as around the eyes or mouth, nerve block injections may be sufficient. However, intravenous sedation with Propofol in a monitored setting is more common for a fully ablative CO2 laser treatment. All patients are discharged on the same day as the procedure.
Arctic Laser Wash:
An Arctic Laser Wash™ is performed in the office with local anesthesia. At a minimum, topical anesthetic cream is applied. Often, nerve block injections are also administered by the physician to numb areas of the face. Some patients may choose to receive an oral prescription medication to help them relax prior to the procedure.
After a fully ablative CO2 laser treatment:
This is highly dependent on the individual’s skin type and the depth of laser resurfacing chosen. Because the fully ablative CO2 laser treatment is the deepest and most effective laser resurfacing procedure available, the laser sites are red and abraded for 10 to 14 days postoperatively. Then, fresh new skin emerges.
After this time, makeup can be used to easily camouflage the residual redness or pinkness. This color will generally fade to normal skin color over a 2 to 3 month period but sometimes takes longer.
After an Arctic Peel™:
The laser sites are usually pink for about 5-7 days, but makeup can be used to cover this 3 days after treatment.
After an Arctic Laser Wash™:
Camouflage makeup can be worn 5-7 days after the procedure. The pink color will fade to normal over an average of 3-4 weeks.
